A Collection So Far is the new exhibition featuring the latest work from exciting painter and illustrator Conor Maguire. Featuring lifelike pencil drawings and expansive, imaginative acrylic and oil paintings, Maguire's work reflects his interest in the County Down landscape, the circles of life and the people around him.

Maguire was born in Belfast and attended De La Salle secondary school before continuing his studies at the University of Ulster's Art College in Belfast. Indulging his adventurous side, he then took a year out to work and travel in New York.

Returning home, Maguire has now been working steadily as a freelance artist specialising in illustration, ceramics, website design and framing, as well as working in every type of medium that is accessible to him with regards painting and drawing. His paintings are inspired the County Down environment, everyday events, personal experiences, friends and family. He also frames and mounts all of his work.
Lifelike

After having his first solo exhibition in the Down Arts Centre in May 2003, Maguire has continued to exhibit, taking part in solo and several group shows alongside Irelands most respected artists such as Neil Shawcross, Basil Blackshaw, Carol Graham and many others. His work has been praised by individual collectors and artists alike, not least the highly-regarded artist Jim Fitzpatrick.

Maguire's work has also been published by Californian Fine Art Company featuring in a book entitled Creative Minds. Winning the Chairman’s award in 2003, Maguire went on to win the Stephens award, Anne Cheyne award and Carnathan Galleries awards, amongst others. He is the youngest member to gain membership to the Ulster Watercolour Society and exhibits on an annual basis.

After exhibiting in Hillsborough Castle he has received a letter from Prince Charles of Clarence house congratulating him on his participation and contribution to The Prince’s trust and success in the art world.

Maguire has produced a limited edition range of work in the form of greeting cards and limited edition giclee range, which are available through several retailers in Northern Ireland such as the Wickerman in Belfast and Painted Earth in Newcastle.

Maguire is currently the main featured artist in the White Image gallery in Hillsborough, The Yard gallery in Holywood and the Access to Arts Gallery in Dublin. He continues to work very closely with many different galleries and continues to exhibit throughout Ireland.

A Collection So Far displays 14 pieces of his new work in the Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick. He also has a group show with the UWS taking place in the Old Northern Bank building in the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast on May 29.
